By the mid-1970s and ’80s, Communist-era hotels lost some of their more playful elements and came to resemble, in many ways, their corporate, Western counterparts. This is the facade and fly-out of the front of the Codru Hotel (1974) in Chişinău, Moldova. From the outside, it could easily be a Marriott or Ramada Inn. Photo by Mark Baker.
